Unique Violin Performances for Community Engagement

Engagement
I am an advocate for community! Something about seeing people come together rings true with the deepest parts of who I am. My heart is tied to the life, energy and connection that comes from tight knit communities and meaningful relationships.
I grew up in regional Far North Queensland so I have a strong connection to small country towns and isolated communities. I understand the importance of investing in these all-to-often forgotten areas where opportunities to get in involved in music-making, creative arts or learning an instrument can be prohibitively inaccessible.
Over the last decade I have had the privilege to work in a number of regional and remote areas across Australia and internationally. From performing in the slums of Manila to facilitating long-distance school activities via radio and even playing for the inmates of a Ugandan prison, I have seen the highs and lows of humanity. Sometimes community is all we have and it needs to be treasured. I have been approached by adults and children who have told me that my performance was the first time they had ever heard a violin played in real life and not “just on TV”.
With formal training in community engagement and a huge passion for seeing arts and community flourish in the most remote areas of Australia, I am an artist open to connection, creativity and engagement.
