Experience the Magic of Live Music in the Comfort of Your Own Home

Violinist, singer and live looping artist Katisha Adelaide

Imagine a unique, intimate musical experience that brings a professional sounding artist into the heart of your own home. In a world flooded with endless digital content, a house concert offers a rare and personal opportunity to connect with the artist in a way that can never be replicated. Unlike streaming a song or watching a video that thousands of other people have seen, this one-of-a-kind performance exists only in your exact moment. It’s an invitation to pause the chaos of life, be fully present and truly experience music in it’s most personal form.

What Are People Saying About House Concerts?

“Our evening began with great expectations and a hubbub of excited voices. No one really knew what to expect, but just seeing Katisha’s set up told us we were in for a treat. Katisha’s concert ‘Lifebeats’ was a wonderful experience for my friends and family, who ranged in age from 3 to 83. Katisha played classics, familiar folk tunes, and original compositions to entertain us. What fun! There was a mixture of classical violin, voice, and percussion each layered through the use of an electronic looping pedal to create a totally original and entertaining presentation. Who knew a violin could be so flexible? If you have the chance to be part of this great experience, don’t hesitate! Katisha’s music will touch your heart and your spirit, but perhaps the loveliest part of it all is that this music will ‘gather you in’ so you’re more than an audience, you’re a participant.”
– Lorraine (House Concert, Edmonton)
“We absolutely loved having you and the whole concept of the house concert was perfect for us. We would have you again in a heartbeat! We really liked your “unpretentious” style; very genuine and simple in the way you explained how you were making your music. We think that style especially suits the house concert audience.”
-Nat and Nathan (House Concert, Biloela)
“We really enjoyed hosting you, it was lovely … all the people that came to hear you in our home – it exceeded our expectations. What we liked the most: how natural you are in front of people and the way you make people feel special at your concerts.”
– Ken and Rosemary (House Concert, Townsville)

How Much Does It Cost?

Absolutely nothing! As the host, you don’t pay a cent for the performance. Simply invite your family and friends to come along; tickets are just $20 per person or $50 for families. An audience of 20+ helps me to cover costs however I do not require you to meet this minimum number in order to host a performance.

Three Tips for Making Your House Concert Extra Special:

The more the merrier! While small concerts can be incredibly special and intimate experiences, there is nothing quite like seeing your home overflowing with friends and family enjoying an experience you created for them.

Ask people to bring along a plate to share during the interval; it’s an easy way to make the evening extra special (and besides, who doesn’t like a treat once in a while?)

Fairy lights make everything better! Seriously, hanging up a string of lights can transform an everyday utilitarian space into something that feels truly magical.

I could tell you stories about house concerts for hours. Every single one of these intimate performances is different, special and entirely non-repeatable. For example, I remember one concert in Edmonton where my host’s lounge room was bursting at the seams. She had actually done the math and allocated one tile’s worth of space to each person in order to fit everyone in! Right in the middle of the concert, an elderly gentleman – clearly moved by something I said – stood up from his seat. Without a hint of hesitation, he treated the entire audience to a dramatic retelling of his life-story. It was one of those sweet, unplanned moments that could only happen in the intimate setting of a house concert. That same concert ended with an impromptu jam session featuring four clarinets!

Another time, I was lost in the middle of a gorgeous orchestral arrangement of Pachelbel’s Canon mashed up with A Thousand Years by Christian Perri. The strings were soaring, the melody was enchanting and the atmosphere was electric. I reached down to change the track on my looping pedal but in the heat of the moment, I accidentally hit the wrong button with my foot. Instead of smoothly transitioning to the next part of the music, the pedal triggered a “special effect bass drop” and my beautiful, soaring strings swiftly transformed into a pulsing, murder-mystery-type soundtrack. My immediate reaction was to turn the special effect off again but that only made the situation worse; those dark, pulsing strings shot back up to their original octave with a comical glide. The age old adage “the show must go on” kept me going for about ten seconds before I broke into laughter and the entire audience joined in! It was one of those moments where you just have to embrace the unpredictability of live music and it became a story I’ve told during countless performances since.

These are the experiences that stay with us and become memories we cherish for life. Special moments, funny mistakes, laughter, tears, melodies, and stories—all of them come together to make each house concert uniquely unforgettable. They only exist only in that fleeting moment and will never happen again … which is what makes them so special.
